The Bennington Buzz officially marked an exciting milestone this week with a ribbon cutting ceremony made possible through the support of local community partners.
The Bennington Public Schools Foundation graciously opened its doors and offered hands-on assistance to host the event, providing a welcoming space for community members, supporters, and leaders to gather and celebrate. The Bennington Chamber of Commerce coordinated the ribbon cutting arrangements, continuing its mission of supporting local organizations and fostering community growth.
Currently Bennington’s only hyper-local news source, the Bennington Buzz was created by the community, for the community, with a focus on telling the stories that matter most to local residents. From school achievements and nonprofit efforts to business openings and community events, the Buzz exists to keep Bennington informed and connected, all at no cost to the community.
Bennington Buzz Board President Cynthia Snoderly said the turnout for the ribbon cutting highlighted the importance of community-based journalism in Bennington.
“I’m amazed at how many community members, subscribers, sponsors and donors showed up in support of our little dream on a random Wednesday afternoon,” Snoderly said. “Seeing that many people fill the room this afternoon proves how much of a need a community-based newspaper is for the city of Bennington. I am excited for the Buzz’s future!”
“We are incredibly grateful to the Bennington Public Schools Foundation for opening their doors and stepping up to help host this celebration, as well as to the Bennington Chamber of Commerce for making the ribbon cutting possible,” other organizers shared. “This event is a reflection of the strong partnerships and community spirit that make Bennington special.”
The Bennington Buzz also extends sincere thanks to its followers, donors, sponsors, and community supporters who have helped make local, independent journalism possible. As a nonprofit organization, the Buzz relies on community support to continue reporting on the people, places, and issues that shape Bennington.
Those interested in supporting the Bennington Buzz are encouraged to consider donating or becoming a sponsor to help “keep the buzz going.” Contributions are tax deductible through our 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, the Bennington Community Foundation.
