The Bennington High School Dance Team closed out a standout winter season marked by strong performances, competitive success, and valuable lessons that extended beyond the floor.
Throughout the season, the team brought energy and precision to halftime performances at home and away basketball games, including a memorable appearance on the state stage during the NSAA State Basketball Championships. Their competitive season culminated at the NSAA State Dance Championships, where the Badgers earned a third-place finish in Class B Hip Hop and fifth place in Class B Pom, an impressive showing against some of the top programs in the state.
The team also took its talents to the national stage earlier in the season, traveling to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida for the 2026 National Dance Team Championship. Competing against teams from across the country, Bennington delivered strong routines and earned sixth place in Medium Varsity Game Day, along with 10th-place finishes in both Large Varsity Pom and Large Varsity Hip Hop.
For junior athlete Eva Nemecek, the national competition provided both challenges and unforgettable moments. “Advancing all 3 times in game day,” she said, reflecting on the team’s biggest highlight of the competition.
The road to success was not without obstacles. “Most of the team was sick and we overcame it by pushing through and showing resilience,” Nemecek said.
Beyond placements and performances, the experience left a lasting impact. “Nothing is promised and everything good comes with hard work and dedication,” she said.
Nemecek also emphasized how being part of the team has shaped her perspective for the future. “It has helped me to realize that everything I do in life has to come with hard work first and team work is so very important.”
With a successful season behind them, the Bennington Dance Team is already looking ahead. As the program prepares to move up to Class A competition next year, the foundation built this season (through perseverance, teamwork, and high-level competition) positions them well for continued growth and success.
