Omaha’s 148th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade brought a wave of green spirit to downtown streets this morning, March 14, as thousands lined the sidewalks to celebrate Irish heritage and community pride.
The parade, organized by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, kicked off at 11 a.m. following a 10:30 a.m. opening ceremony at 16th and Capitol. Due to ongoing streetcar construction, this year’s route featured a notable change: starting at 16th and Capitol, proceeding east to 12th and Capitol, then turning north to end at 12th and Mike Fahey streets.
Among the highlights were participants from the Bennington community, adding a special local touch to the metro-wide event.
Gianna Panebianco, crowned the 101st Santa Lucia Queen 2025 on August 3, 2025, marched proudly alongside volunteers from the Santa Lucia Festival. Dressed in her elegant gown and wearing her crown, the young queen from Bennington greeted excited children and families along the route, waving enthusiastically and handing out candy to delighted onlookers.

The Bennington Fire Department also made a strong showing, contributing an apparatus to the procession. Driven by Victor Smith, the fire truck joined a impressive line-up of emergency vehicles from across the Omaha metro area, sirens blaring and lights flashing as part of the traditional display of community support and solidarity.

The parade featured classic elements like marching bands, Irish dancers, bagpipes, colorful floats, and plenty of candy tosses, drawing cheers from crowds despite the adjusted route. It served as a vibrant reminder of Omaha’s long-standing St. Patrick’s Day traditions, now in its 148th year.
