The Bennington Badgers have kicked off the 2025-26 girls’ basketball season with three wins- the most recent was Tuesday night’s 80-31 victory over Omaha Mercy! The team dominated from tip-off, while also sinking all five free throws. With 23 assists on 33 made baskets, the ball movement was crisp and purposeful, showcasing the teamwork they’ve been building in practice.
Standout performances lit up the stat sheet: Junior Harper Bohaboj erupted for 18 points on scorching 9-of-11 shooting, including 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sophomore Macie Reiner added 13 points, while junior Skylar Johnson matched her with 13 points of her own. Senior Reese Almquist chipped in 6 points, with 7 rebounds and 4 assists, helping to fuel the offensive fire that left Mercy scrambling all night.
Head Coach John O’Connor shared his take post-game: “You know, we have a lot of respect for Mercy. They are very well coached and do some good things. They had one of their starters out that I think probably hurt them a little bit.” He said, “I think our girls did a good job of coming in and still executing some of the things we wanted to execute.” Looking ahead, Coach emphasized growth: “We want to get better every day… A lot of things we can continue to work on. Obviously, a lot of things from tonight that we need to correct and get better at. So every single day, you just try to continue to get better.”
