The Bennington City Council wrapped up 2025 with a productive meeting on December 8, tackling parks, infrastructure, and community support. Mayor Clint Adams and the full council were in attendance, with Council Member Kaye Bridgeford unanimously appointed as the new Council President for the coming year. November Keno proceeds came in strong at $9,892.47, continuing to provide valuable funding for community projects.
Several ongoing initiatives saw big steps forward. The council renewed the snow removal agreement with NDOT for our portion of Highway 36, ensuring safe travel through another winter. The long-awaited Public Works building is on track for occupancy before the end of December—great news for our hardworking Public Works team! JEO Consulting also presented 60% design plans for Phase 2 of Neumeyer Farm Park, which includes four new irrigated and sodded athletic fields, expanded paved parking, and new sidewalks. The final design is expected in January, with bidding targeted for February. Depending on final costs, some elements (such as additional paving) may be scaled back to keep the project on budget.
Community support was another highlight. Representatives from Bennington Legion Baseball presented bids for installing a professional batter’s eye screen at the Legion field—a $12,000+ upgrade that will help the facility stay competitive when bidding to host regional and state tournaments. The Legion has already begun fundraising and is requesting a $5,000 contribution from the city (to come from Keno funds). The council thanked them for their presentation and placed the formal request on the January 2026 agenda for a vote.
As always, full minutes and the latest project renderings are available on the city’s website. Mark your calendar- the next regular meeting is Monday, January 12, 2026. What are you most excited to see finished in the new year? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
